Two of the top three teams in the SEC meet up in a crucial battle Tuesday night in College Station. The Aggies (20-7, 12-2) are second in the conference behind Alabama while UT checks in at 20-7 as well, but are just 9-5 in SEC play. Texas A&M can keep their conference title hopes alive with a win here but the Vols have done a nice job of playing spoiler lately.

It was an up and down past week for Tennessee, first beating then #1 Alabama 68-59 last Wednesday but then being unable to sustain that momentum in a 66-54 loss at Kentucky on Saturday. Had they beaten UK Tennessee might have been looking at a top 5 spot in the country, but instead with the loss they actually dropped a slot to #11.
The Vols can still get after teams on defense, ranking 3rd in the country allowing just 56.7 ppg while being tops in opponents field goal (35.8) and three point (24.9) shooting. Texas A&M ranks 24th in adjusted offensive efficiency, and have been especially good lately behind Wade Taylor IV who has gone for 21+ in three of his last four.
This matchup really comes down to a tale of two Februarys, with Tennessee struggling this month going 2-4 while the Aggies are 5-0. The Volunteers have a couple of real bad losses during that stretch as well, falling at Vanderbilt and at home to Missouri both as double-digit favorites.
