San Jose State (7-5) turned their season around with a six game win streak to close out the year and now they aim to make it 7 in a row with a win in the 2023 Hawaii Bowl. Coastal Carolina (7-5) limps to Honolulu on a two game losing streak, but first-year coach Tim Beck is motivated to pick up the victory in his first postseason game with the Chanticleers.

Before Betting on Coastal Carolina vs San Jose State

Coastal Carolina found out this month that they would lose star QB Grayson McCall after he has decided to transfer to NC State. McCall was influential in the turnaround of the CCU program, posting numbers of 26 TDs to 3 INTs in 2020, 27/3 in 2021, and 24/2 in 2022. The Chanticleers went 31-7 over that span but only won the Cure Bowl in 2021 over Northern Illinois.

If there is any good news for Coastal Carolina, it’s that they’ve already gotten used to life without McCall as he’s been out since week 8 after suffering a bad concussion against Arkansas State. CCU went 3-2 down the stretch with all three of their victories coming as underdogs.

San Jose State had a disastrous start to 2023 after going 1-5, but they picked things up in conference play to finish 7-5. One of those victories was at Hawaii (35-0 in week 9) so the Spartans are familiar with the trip to the island. Their starting QB Chevan Cordeiro is also a Hawaiian native so he’ll have plenty of fan support in the crowd on Saturday night.

2023 68 Ventures Bowl Prediction & Pick

Coastal Carolina has had a lot of success over the past four years, and although they’ll be playing without the QB (and coach) who was responsible for a lot of that, this is still a Chanticleers team used to winning. Because of that, the +10 points is too much to be giving.

Pick: Coastal Carolina +10
