The Leagues Cup kicks off tonight all across North America, bringing together the best teams from MLS and Liga MX. The focus is on this tournament because of Lionel Messi’s debut in the new kit, but aside from that, it is one of the few competitions in the world that have the quality and star power to attract soccer fans at this point of the season.

Before Betting on 2023 Leagues Cup Winners

This competition was established in 2019, with only eight teams involved back then. Today, it involves all the teams from the Mexican and the US top-tier leagues, and it also carries significance because the top three teams earn a direct place in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The first winners were Cruz Azul, who defeated UNAL Tigres in the finals, 2-1. the tournament was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2021, Club Leon was better than the Seattle Sounders in the finals, 3-2.

Last season, there was no tournament due to the schedule conflict, and that’s why both leagues now decided to introduce a new format which sees 15 groups with three teams, while the MLS Cup winners and the Clausura and Apertura winners automatically receive a place in the knockout stage.

2023 Leagues Cup Winners Offshore Betting Odds

Two Mexican powerhouses, Club America and Monterrey, are on top of the favorites list, with similar odds. Inter Miami is leveled with these teams. David Beckham’s franchise now has Messi and Busquets, and with these two guys onboard, Miami can play against any team in the CONCACAF zone and be the favorite.

LA FC is the fourth in the line, but the Black and Gold showed a lot of weaknesses over the recent few weeks, experiencing a significant drop in form and posting some bad results.

UNAL Tigres are fifth, while Jim Curtin’s Philadelphia Union comes right after. Pachuca, who earned a place in the knockout stage as a trophy winner back home (just like LA FC), is +1600, the same as the CONCACAF Champions League winner, Club Leon.
