The Nobel Peace Prize has been the subject of various debates in recent years. Some believe it has lost its reputation, while others have a different opinion. Anyway, here are the odds for this year’s candidates.
Before Betting on the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize
Last year’s winners were Ales Bialiatski from Belarus, the organization Memorial from Russia, and the Centre for Civil Liberties from Ukraine. In 2021 there were two accolades, Maria Ressa from the Philippines and Dmitry Muratov from Russia.
For some, this is the trend that shows that the prizes are a political means to put pressure on certain countries and politicians because the favorites for the upcoming award come from the same states as the winners mentioned above.
2023 Nobel Peace Prize winners’ odds
The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, has the best odds of taking the prize. He has been a leader in a defensive war Ukraine wages against Russia and is one of the most popular and influential characters in the West.
Alexei Navalny is the next one on the list. The Russian dissident and the opposition leader is the biggest critics of Putin’s regime. He, Sviatlana Tsikhaunouskaya (Belarus opposition leader), and Ilham Tohti (the Uyghur leader in China) all have the same odds of winning the Nobel Peace Prize.
