The Serbs advanced from the group with two wins and one loss, which was against Team USA. That happened in the opening round, yet Jokic and the boys responded by beating Puerto Rico 107-66 and South Sudan 96-85.

Bogdan Bogdanovic scored 30 points in the game against South Sudan, hitting six threes in nine attempts and dishing eight assists. He became the top scorer in Serbia’s history. Jokic had 22 buckets and 13 boards, while Vasa Micic added 15 with seven boards and assists each.

On the other hand, Australia had a great start to the tournament, blasting Spain 92-80. However, after that, they posted back-to-back losses, reaching a tough position where they didn’t hold everything in their hands.

Canada was the first team that routed the Aussies here in Paris, 93-83, and then came Greece, which won their matchup 77-71. Patty Mills and Josh Giddey shot 7-for-23 from the field combined, which was why this team couldn’t compete with the Greeks.

The Aussies pretty routinely defeated Serbia in the preparation period for the Olympics, 84-73, though Serbia didn’t play with all its players back then. Previously, these teams met twice at the Olympics in Rio, where Australia beat Serbia in the group stage, 95-80, but the Serbs later eliminated them in the semis, 87-61.

The Serbs are looking better and better as time passes, and we expect them to win this event. Australia’s game relies too much on outside shooting and isn’t stable enough. Mills oscillates, and the only constant player is Jock Landale, who faces Nikola Jokic.
