First place in the Big 12 is up for grabs on Tuesday night when #5 Kansas State (17-2, 6-1) visit Ames to take on the Iowa State Cyclones (14-4, 5-2). ISU has dropped to second place in the conference after blowing a big lead in a 61-59 loss at Oklahoma State on Saturday. K-State continued to stay hot with a 68-58 victory over Texas Tech this weekend, pushing their mark to 11-1 since December 1st.

Before Betting on Kansas State vs Iowa State

KSU has tough challenge on Tuesday night on the road against one of the best defenses not just in the Big 12, but in the country. Iowa State allows just 58.6 ppg which is 8th fewest in the nation, and their KenPom adjusted defensive efficiency ranks 7th.

The Wildcats feel they have the offense to counter the Cyclones attack, even on the road. K-State ranks third in the Big 12 in scoring behind the highly productive duo of Keyontae Johnson (18.5 ppg) and Markquis Nowell (16.7 ppg). Johnson had 24 to power the 1-point win over Kansas last Tuesday, and Nowell posted a 23/8/5 line in the win over TTU this weekend.

Iowa State will likely have to find some offense on Tuesday the way Johnson and Nowell have been performing, but the Cyclones have scored 75+ in their last three conference home games, The key for ISU seems to be getting Jaren Holmes (12.9 ppg) going, as he was held to just 7 points in a loss to Kansas and 8 points in a defeat against Oklahoma State the last three games but dropped 21 in last week’s win over Texas.

Kansas State vs Iowa State Prediction & Pick

That is a wild spread for the Wildcats to be getting +5.5 points as the #5 team in the country, especially with Iowa dropping two of their last three. Sure the Cyclones are 10-0 at home this season, but that point spread still looks just a bit too high.

Pick: Kansas State +5.5
