A couple of schools mostly known for their football programs try to change their respective narratives a bit and clinch their spot in the Final Four. Obviously heading to Austin next weekend would be huge for Texas (29-8) playing in their home state, but this also feels like the next step for Miami (28-7) who made the Elite 8 last season.
Before Betting on Miami vs Texas
It’s been quite a ride for the #2 seed Longhorns, who had to endure off the court drama with the firing of coach Chris Beard in early January due to domestic issues. That loss may be addition by subtraction, because Texas seems relaxed under interim coach Rodney Terry, making it past the 2nd round for the first time since 2008.
Texas is on a 7-game win streak coming into Sunday’s meeting with Miami, dominating Kansas by 20 to win the Big 12 Tournament and beating Colgate, Penn State, and Xavier so far in March Madness 2023. Miami will be the Longhorns’ biggest test though, as the Hurricanes are fresh off an 89-75 win over #1 seed Houston on Friday night.
Miami has just as much a right to the Final 4 – if not more – than Texas considering they have the ACC Player of the Year in Isaiah Wong as well as an experienced head coach Jim Larranaga who has taken the team to the NCAA Tournament six times in his 12 seasons. Wong has been great in this tournament (18.2 ppg) but Nijel Pack came up huge with 26 points vs the Cougars.

Miami vs Texas Prediction & Pick
Texas is the highest remaining seed left in this tournament but Miami was just in this spot last year and is ready to take the next step with many of the same players in place.
