Before Betting On AC Milan vs AS Roma

Milan and Roma are familiar foes in Serie A, but this will be the first time that the two bitter rivals have collided in a European showdown. However, Milan will be wary of coming up against another Italian side in Europe this term after seeing their journey in the Champions League last term come to an end against Inter Milan. Roma will be coming up against an Italian rival in Europe for the first time since getting thumped against Fiorentina in 2014-15.

Milan’s record against their rivals is extremely encouraging, as they have gone nine matches without defeat against Roma. Over that period, Milan has recorded six victories, with just three ending in draws. This is currently their longest unbeaten streak against their rivals since going 20 without loss between 1970 and 1979.

Milan have now reached at least this stage of a European competition in each of the last two seasons, marking the first time that they have achieved that feat since 2002. It could also be worth considering their excellent record since dropping into the Europa League this term, registering more shots on target and goals than any other side.

Roma’s away record in Europe is also a pressing concern ahead of this clash on Thursday, as they have landed just two wins in their last 14 matches. Meanwhile, they are without a victory in their last eight away matches in the knockout stage of the competition.
