Before the Belmont Stakes takes center stage on Saturday, it will be turn of the fillies. The G1 Acorn Stakes will headline the card on Friday evening, with the field of horses aged three competing over 1 1/8. You can find the latest odds and our prediction here.

Before Betting On Acorn Stakes

An excellent renewal of the Acorn Stakes is set for this Friday, with the contest being staged at Saratoga due to renovation work taking place at Belmont Park. It will be staged over a distance of 1 1/8 miles, with winning connections picking up their share of the $500,000 purse.

There will be a rematch from the Kentucky Oaks this week, with the first two over the line set to renew their rivalry on likely testing conditions in New York. Thorpedo Anna was extremely impressive when winning the Oaks for Kenneth McPeek, and the manner in which she scooted clear of the field at Churchill Downs means that she will be hard to oppose once again.

Just F Y I was second in the Oaks for William Mott, and huge improvement will be required if she is to close the gap on Thorpedo Anna at Saratoga on Friday. However, the filly by Justify does have proven winning experience around Saratoga after breaking her maiden at the track over six furlongs.

Leslie’s Rose could be hard to ignore if responding from her Oaks setback this week. The Todd Pletcher runner encountered no shortage of issues at Churchill Downs, but her form before that effort was solid after beating Just F Y I in the G1 Ashland Stakes. Gun Song may be one of the more interesting newcomers after winning two from four starts this year, which included victory in the G2 Black Eyed-Susan Stakes on her previous outing.

Thorpedo Anna is very much the horse to beat in the Acorn Stakes this week. The three-year-old made light work of Just F Y I in the Oaks, and a repeat performance in similar conditions could be likely at Saratoga.
