A crucial round of matches in the Europa League takes place this week, as important points will be up for grabs in Group B. Brighton have come alive in the competition in recent rounds, and they will be looking to enhance their chances of finishing in the top two places by claiming victory in Greece against AEK Athens on Thursday.

Before Betting On AEK Athens vs Brighton

Brighton’s run in the Europa League looked to be over after disappointing performances across their opening two matches. However, they have reignited their hopes of going far in the European tournament after winning each of their last two against Ajax. The Premier League side could move to the top of the Group B standings with a victory in Greece on Thursday.

However, Athens also remain in the hunt for a place in the knockout round, as they currently sit third in the standings at this stage. They are only three points behind their rivals after winning once in their opening four matches. However, a response will be needed after they were handed back-to-back defeats against Marseille in their previous two matches.

AEK have a poor home record against English sides, as they have lost each of their previous three. Their most recent home defeat against an English club was suffered against Leicester City in 2020. Meanwhile, Brighton have scored at least two goals in each of their opening four matches in Europe, and they could become the first English side to ever score multiple goals in each of their opening five since QPR in 1976.

Athens have a poor record in the Europa League in home matches, as they are winless in their last 14. That is the longest winless streak of any side in the competition. Furthermore, they have already given away five penalties in the competition this term, which is the most of any side across a single edition of the tournament since Braga in 2021-22.
