AFC South goes under the radar because there aren’t too many flashy teams considered Super Bowl favorites. But there’s plenty of talent here. Just look at the Texans or the Jags because these teams might play a huge role in the NFL over the next few years.
Before Betting on 2024 AFC South Winners
The Houston Texans are the reigning division champs, and the odds suggest they are by far the biggest favorites to clinch the title this season. And how wouldn’t they be with all the additions to the roster during this offseason? The fantastic defense and magnificent young QB, CJ Stroud, led this unit to an unexpected 10-7 last year. He will now have two Pro Bowlers next to him – WR Stefon Diggs and RB Joe Mixon.
Jacksonville’s collapse in the last phase of the campaign allowed the Texans to take the division title. Their fall was mainly because Trevor Lawrence lost his rhythm in the second part of the season, and we don’t know why that happened. With the first-round pick, WR Brian Thomas, Lawrence should be better. Plus, he got Gabe Davis and Devin Duvernay. So, it’s possible that the Jags will spoil the Texans’ plans for winning the division.
We don’t know what to think about the Indianapolis Colts. Rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson has talent, but will he be able to use all his weapons and the favorable schedule? Will Shane Steichen manage his development correctly? Many things will depend upon RB Jonathan Taylor, who needs to be at his best to help the Colts enter the playoff race.
Derrick Henry left the Tennessee Titans, and the fans can’t make peace with that. The franchise now has plenty of room in the cap space, so WR Calvin Ridley, RB Tonny Pollard, CB L’Jarius Sneed, and many more landed in Nashville. However, they will need more than that to reach the top of the assembly, particularly with the new head coach, Brian Callahan, who now needs to build a whole new system.
