Our Alba vs. Panathinaikos prediction is for the reigning Euroleague champions to get the win in Round 1.
Alba didn’t show any improvement during the preseason, and if things continue as they are now, the Albatros will again be near the bottom of the standings.
Panathinaikos had a super team last year, and they added even more star power this summer, landing several top players, most of them from the NBA.

Alba vs. Panathinaikos Head-to-Head Stats
Euroleague Games | Alba Wins | PAO Wins |
---|---|---|
8 | 4 | 4 |
Many will be surprised to hear that after eight meetings in this Euroleague format, Alba and Panathinaikos have four wins each. Last season, the Greek side triumphed in both though, 85-99 in Berlin and 84-75 at home.
Before Betting
The hosts haven’t changed their roster much, but they did for two important players, Sterling Brown and Johannes Thiemann, left. We can’t say that the team from Berlin managed to find decent replacements for these two guys.
Alba posted sub-average results during the preseason. Their game was mediocre, often inconsistent, and without creativity.
In one true test, against Anadolu Efes, they lost 79-64. This result pretty much indicates the Albatros’ future during the EuroLeague season—that is, if they don’t drastically improve.
Meanwhile, PAO played against the best European teams during the preparation period, and the champs looked excellent. And how wouldn’t they, with all those superstars on their roster?
The only thing that could disrupt the team is the chemistry because there are too many fantastic players, and they might be unhappy with their roles. After all, they all got used to being leaders and the center of attention.
Alba vs. Panathinaikos Prediction
The guests from Greece are a much better team, with more quality in all the areas on the court. Therefore, a Panathinaikos victory feels inevitable.
