Our Volkanovski vs. Topuria prediction is that the UFC 298 headliner will win the Fight of the Night accolade on Saturday, February 17, 2024.

It’s just that both Alex Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria are incredible fighters with a relatively similar set of skills. Plus, they’re both super motivated to win.

But which of these two will end up with an arm held high at the end of the fight? Let’s find out!

Before Betting on the Volkanovski vs. Topuria UFC 298 Fight

Alex Volkanovski is arguably the best featherweight on the planet. In the 125-pound division, his record is 26-0. He did, however, want to become a double-champ last year, which didn’t go according to plan. Volk lost twice to Islam Makhachev in a fight for the lightweight title.

In their first fight, Volk did okay, but in the rematch, he got KO-ed by the Dagestani. It happened in Volk’s most recent fight, which made people wonder if the same can happen again. So, can Ilia Topuria knock him out?

El Matador is one of the best boxers in the UFC, but we don’t think he’s got the power to knock Volk out. We also don’t think that he can beat him by submission given how good a wrestler the Aussie fighter is. But can he beat him by points if the fight goes the distance?

Judging by the UFC 298 offshore odds, this is going to be a very close fight. We think that as well. We think it’s very likely the fight will go the distance. But which fighter will win the judges’ scores? We think it’s going to be Volk. This guy tends to land a lot of strikes, which is why it’s not crazy to think he’s going to out-strike Topuria.

Even if the Spanish boxing maestro ends up landing more strikes than Volk, the judges might still score in favor of the Aussie. It’s because we think it’s very likely Volk will land a couple of takedowns in this fight. After all, this guy lands just under 2 TDs per fight on average.
