Before Betting on Angels vs Mariners June 17
The Los Angeles Angels were able to snap a three game losing streak with a 4-1 win over the Seattle Mariners in Thursday night’s series opener. LAA is still just 3-18 in their last 21 games, with two of those three wins coming in Shohei Ohtani starts.
Now the Angels will try to get another win when Ohtani isn’t the starter as Michael Lorenzen (6-3, 3.45 ERA) is up in the rotation. Lorenzen has been very inconsistent allowing 1 ER or less in 3 of his last 5 starts while giving up 8 ER in his other two. Lorenzen has a 4.81 ERA on the road compared to 2.52 at home.
Mike Trout did all the damage on Thursday night with 2 HR to account for all four of the Angels’ runs. Seattle managed just 4 hits as they’ve now been held to 2 runs or less in four of their last five games.
Robby Ray (5-6, 4.52 ERA) hopes he is back on track after shutting out Boston over 7.0 IP in his last start – which Seattle still lost 2-0. Ray had allowed 3+ runs in 5 straight starts as he’s struggled following an AL Cy Young campaign last season.

If Ray is back to his old self than the Mariners have some solid value in this spot. Then again the Mariners are doing almost nothing on offense recently, and Trout could outproduce them by himself on Friday night as he’s hit 5 HR in the last 6 games.
