Oklahoma City (56-25) was a 10 seed heading into the 2023 postseason, making the Thunder’s chances to win the Western Conference on the last day of the regular season even that much more impressive. OKC is tied with Denver and Minnesota, and would win the tiebreaker if all three teams win, but would lose out if the Nuggets lose and the Timberwolves win – so nothing is set in stone.

Before Betting on April 14 Mavericks vs Thunder

Dallas is going to the playoffs just like Oklahoma City, but the Mavericks cannot lose or gain ground regardless of Sunday’s result. The Mavericks will be the #5 seed in the postseason and will visit the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round.

With Sunday’s game essentially being meaningless, Dallas coach Jason Kidd is resting four of his five starters save for Tim Hardaway, Jr. That means a lot of end of the bench players will be getting a majority of playing time for the Mavericks, but sometimes those are the hungriest types of athletes.

Oklahoma City will be going all out on Sunday to try and win their first Western Conference crown since 2013. That would just be another resume builder for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s MVP claim as he has posted a 30.3/5.6/6.2 slash this season.

April 14 Mavericks vs Thunder Prediction & Pick

Most would assume the Thunder pick up the win here, but -19.5 points is a lot to cover even if the Mavs are throwing out a skeleton crew. Once Oklahoma City gets a sizeable lead, they’ll too take their foot off the gas as to not risk injury for the postseason which makes covering that huge number even harder.

Pick: Mavericks +19.5
