The Padres (11-11) will try to get their offense out of neutral when they continue their series with the Blue Jays (11-9) on Saturday. San Diego dropped the opener 5-1 on Friday night which followed up a 1-0 loss to Milwaukee on Wednesday so the Padres bats need to get a bit reinvigorated. Toronto on the other hand is rolling, winners of five of their last six.

Before Betting on April 20 Blue Jays vs Padres

Four players had multiple hits on Friday night for Toronto, somewhat surprising considering the Blue Jays were playing their first road game in nearly two weeks following a 6-3 home stand. It was an even more impressive victory for Toronto considering the Padres were playing well, winning consecutive series’ against the Brewers and Dodgers – both 1st place teams.

Jose Berrios (3-0, 1.05 ERA) has to be licking his chops to face a struggling Padres offense and continue his torrid start to 2024. Berrios continued to work on his pitch arsenal in the offseason and it has paid off tremendously. Berrios is tied for 1st in MLB in wins and has the 4th best ERA and hasn’t allowed a run in two straight starts.

Randy Vasquez (0-0, 0.00) has the unenviable task of going toe to toe with Berrios on Saturday while making his first start of 2024. Vasquez had a rough go in Triple A with a 7.94 ERA in three starts but was solid in 2023 with the Yankees with a sub 3.00 ERA in five starts.

April 20 Blue Jays vs Padres MLB Prediction & Pick

Until a team gets to Berrios in 2024, you have to think his domination will continue. When you have Vasquez making his first MLB start on the other side and the Padres offense in a funk the numbers point to a big Toronto victory.

Pick: Blue Jays -1.5
