The 76ers had some runs in Game 1 at Madison Square Garden including a 36-21 advantage in the third quarter, but ultimately it wasn’t enough as the Knicks go up 1-0 following a 111-104 victory. Both teams obviously feel they could’ve played better in the series opener, but which team will make the adjustments to do just that in Game 2?

Before Betting on April 22 Sixers vs Knicks

Joel Embiid’s knee has been a focal point for Philadelphia fans all season as it limited him to just 39 games this season, but the big man looked good early on Saturday scoring the first 9 points as Philadelphia went ahead 18-7. Embiid reinjured his knee and left with 2:37 in the first half and although he returned in the second he shot just 2-11.

Embiid has said he “feels good” ahead of Game 2, and the Sixers have plenty of scoring help as Tyrese Maxey finished with 33 while Kyle Lowry added 18. The Knicks also probably won’t get 42 points from their bench on Monday like they did from Miles McBride (21), Bojan Bogdanovic (13), and Mitchell Robinson (8) like they did in the opener.

While the Knicks may – or may not – get as much bench support as they did in Game 1, it’s almost certain that their starters will play better. Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart both scored 22 points, but on a combined 12-38 shooting. Donte DiVincenzo had a +/- of -23 and Isaiah Hartenstein wasn’t much better at -13. New York has plenty of room for improvement even after a 7-point victory in the opener.

April 22 76ers vs Knicks Prediction & Pick

The 76ers had some good runs in Game 1, but they are a hard team to back with the uncertainty surrounding Embiid’s knee. New York covered the number on Saturday even while their starters played very inefficiently, and the Knicks should have a nice showing in Game 2 in front of an electric Madison Square Garden crowd.

Pick: Knicks -5
