Despite the Clippers’ 12-point win in Game 1, they are still home underdogs against Dallas in Game 2 of their Western Conference playoff series. L.A. didn’t just come out on top of the opener, they were dominant in taking a 56-30 lead into halftime fueled by a 22-8 advantage in the second quarter. Does anybody have faith in the Mavericks evening things up on the road?
Before Betting on April 23 Mavericks vs Clippers
There were a number of impressive things about the Clippers’ win on Sunday, the first being that Dallas was playing well, going 16-4 over their final 20 games – with two of those coming when they rested starters the last two games of the regular season. Los Angeles was also without Kawhi Leonard who continues to be out with knee inflammation.
L.A. showed a lot of depth in the series opener, getting a 28-point outing from James Harden and a big 20 point, 15 rebound performance from Ivica Zubac. Paul George had an efficient 22 points as well and the Clippers also got nice performances from Terance Mann and Russell Westbrook who had 13 points apiece. How does Dallas make adjustments against a team with so many options?
While the Clippers have some nice depth, Dallas has a star-studded duo in Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Both of those players did their parts in the opener, with Doncic scoring 33 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while Irving added 31. With that kind of output and Dallas still losing by double digits, it makes you wonder what more these superstars can do for the Mavs to pull even.

April 23 Mavericks vs Clippers Prediction & Pick
It’s somewhat strange the oddsmakers didn’t change the Clippers from being underdogs to favorites like they did with the Bucks after their big series opening win against the Pacers. This could be a trap play, but Los Angeles looked really good on Sunday and getting points at home seems like a no-brainer.
