Nashville was a little over 11 minutes away from stealing Game 1 and home ice advantage in their first round series with the Canucks but a 12 second span changed all of that. Vancouver scored 3 goals in the final period as they scored a 4-2 comeback win. The Predators have to have confidence that they were the better team for 5/6 of Game 1, but Vancouver also showed they can turn it on when they want so Game 2 is going to be interesting.

What’s so wild about the Nashville meltdown in Game 1 was that it happened so fast. The Preds’ held on to a 2-1 lead until a Pius Suter score at 8:59 followed by a Dakota Joshua goal at 9:11 put Vancouver ahead 3-2 in a span of 12 seconds.
Despite their Game 1 loss, Nashville still has a great chance of evening up this series if anything just because they have Juuse Saros between the pipes. Saros faced the most shots in the NHL this season and still had a decent 2.86 GAA with a .906 save percentage. Saros allowed 12 goals in his final three regular season starts, so he really needs a redemption game.
Thatcher Demko had the third best save percentage in the league this season (.918) and he was great in Game 1 stopping 20 of 22 shots – with one of Nashville’s scores coming in the power play. Unlike Saros, Demko finished his regular season strong allowing 1 goal or less in four of his last five of the year.
