The last two World Series winners meet up this weekend when the Astros (9-10) visit the Braves (14-5). Things are going much better for Atlanta to start 2023, but they are just 4-3 at home on the year with all their wins coming by one run. Houston just wrapped up a 3-3 home stand and are also 3-3 away from Minute Maid Park on the year.
Before Betting on Astros vs Braves
The Braves have a pretty manageable price tag for for Friday’s series opener, and although they did lose 1-0 to the Padres on Wednesday that followed a streak of 8 straight wins. That’s much more momentum than a Houston club that has alternated wins and losses over their last 9 games.
The Astros alternating W’s and L’s trend has been interesting to follow, as they’ve scored at least 8 runs in each of their last four wins but have been held to 2 runs or less in their last three losses. This seems like an all or nothing team that is due for a nothing outing according to recent numbers.
Friday’s pitching matchup is interesting as Hunter Brown (2-0, 1.93) goes for Houston up against Bryce Elder (2-0, 1.53 ERA) of Atlanta. Both players are in their second MLB season and look like they could be two of the torch bearers for quality hurlers heading towards the future.
Brown has gone 7.0 IP and not allowed a run in his last two starts while Elt give up a score over his first two outings of the year before giving up 3 to the Royals last Saturday.
