The Blue Jays (54-64) had a disappointing 3-3 home stand last week, but that’s been the theme of their season for a talented team that is 11 GB in the wild card race making their year essentially over. Toronto did tally a 4-2 win over the Angels (52-66) in Monday’s series opener in Anaheim, but this series is essentially the battle of the underachievers. Offshore oddsmakers like the Jays to make it two in a row on Tuesday.

Before Betting on August 13 Blue Jays vs Angels

Even though their postseason chances are shot, Toronto needed the win on Monday to wash out the bad taste of 1-0 and 8-4 losses to the horrible Oakland A’s on Saturday and Sunday. The Blue Jays are now 5-5 in August – a mediocre mark for an underwhelming squad that seems to be counting down the days to the offseason.

Toronto might be best known for their second generation pipeline of Vlad Guerrero, Jr., Bo Bichette, and Daulton Varsho whose lineage includes former MLB players, and it seems like they’ve added another as Will Wagner (son of All-Star closer Billy Wagner) went 3-4 on Monday in his big league debut. For as good as Wagner was in his first MLB game, it was Bowden Francis who led the Jays to victory in the series opener with 7.0 IP of 1-hit ball.

Francis was on fire in the opener for Toronto, and Kevin Gausman (10-8, 4.42 ERA) has a great chance of repeating that on Tuesday night. The Blue Jays have won five straight Gausman starts and he has a 9.0 IP and an 8.0 IP outing in two of his last three.

The Angels go with Carson Fulmer in game two making his sixth start of the season after coming out of the bullpen earlier in the year. Fulmer has a cap of maybe the 4th or 5th inning, so this game will likely be decided by the Angels bullpen.

August 13 Blue Jays vs Angels Prediction & Pick

Gausman has been dialed in and has the capability of pitching into the 7th or 8th while the Angels are sending a converted reliever to the bump on Tuesday. Toronto should be able to exploit this matchup both on offense and defense.

Pick: Toronto RL -1.5
