Offshore oddsmakers have Tuesday night’s Braves vs Giants matchup basically a coin flip, which would automatically give a lean towards home team San Francisco (61-60). Both clubs have a lot to play for with slumping Atlanta (62-56) trying to hold on to the final wild card spot while SF is 2.5 GB trying to get into the postseason.
Before Betting on August 13 Braves vs Giants
Atlanta was able to take Monday’s opener 1-0, a big offensive differential from their weekend in Colorado when they averaged 8 runs/game. It took 10 innings, but Travis d’Arnaud’s sac fly finally plated the games first run and gave the Braves a 2-2 mark on their current road trip.
Chris Sale vs Blake Snell did not disappoint on Monday, with Sale throwing 7.0 IP of 3 hit, 12 K ball while Snell went 6.1 IP while allowing just 2 hits and striking out 11. The microscopic under of 6.5 was still too high for that pitcher’s gem, but will we see more offense on Tuesday? The Braves send Charlie Morton (6-7, 4.47 ERA) to the mound in game two but he couldn’t get out of the 3rd inning in his last start, serving up 4 HRs and allowing 8 ER in just 2.2 IP in a home beatdown from the Brewers.
Morton has been hit around a little bit lately (5ER, 2.2 IP at the end of July vs. the Mets) so the goal of Kyle Harrison (6-5, 4.08 ERA) is to be better than that. The Giants starter had a 2.66 ERA in July, but has been touched to the tune of 8ER in 8.1 IP so far in two August outings.

August 13 Braves vs Giants Prediction & Pick
Neither pitcher really is an outlier for the play on this game, in fact they are both kind of unsteady. Monday’s offensive stalemate was simply a product of Sale vs. Snell, but we’ll see a reinvigoration of the bats in game two.
Pick: Over 8
