The Twins (67-63) currently sit in the #2 wild card in the American League, so they need to fully take advantage of a 4-game series against the slumping Rangers (56-65) that gets underway in Arlington on Thursday night. Texas did get a 9-7 comeback win in Boston on Wednesday, but that puts their mark to just 4-8 so far in August.

Before Betting on August 15 Twins vs Rangers

The Twins would normally have the mediocre AL Central about wrapped up being 14 games over .500 in 2024, but Cleveland has been on fire with the best record in the league at 72-49. That makes Minnesota a bit underrated, but they’re coming off a 3-game series win against the Royals where they scored 22 total runs.

The Rangers will not be making a repeat trip to the World Series 10 games back for the final wild card spot and oddsmakers are starting to take note making them underdogs in eight straight games. Texas has only won two of those contests, although they have scored 4+ runs in six of their last seven.

The Twins try to get off on the right foot in this series behind Bailey Ober (12-5, 3.52 ERA) and Minnesota has won his last four starts. Ober has been dominant over that span, allowing just 9 total hits and 4 ER over 28.0 IP. Ober has picked up the win in five of his last six starts and had a 2.00 ERA in July followed by 1.88 through two August outings.

Texas counters with Cody Bradford (4-0, 3.60 ERA) who makes his fourth start since missing time with a back strain and rib injury. The left-hander had the longest outing since his return, throwing 5.0 IP of 1 ER ball in a win over the Yankees.

August 15 Twins vs Rangers Prediction & Pick

Hard to go against Ober in this spot as he’s under-the-radar been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the past two months. The Rangers have been plating some runs lately, but only two Texas batters have better than a .250 average against the Minnesota starter.

Pick: Twins ML
