Brewers starter Aaron Civale got some revenge on his former team on Friday night, throwing 6.0 innings of shutout ball to help Milwaukee take the series opener. Willy Adames hit a 3-run HR to offset Cleveland’s Jose Ramirez hitting his 32nd bomb of the season and the Brewers got the win despite being outhit 7-6.

Milwaukee has won six of the last seven head to head meetings with Cleveland going back to 2021, a trend Freddy Peralta (7-7, 4.11) will try to continue when he takes the mound on Saturday night. Peralta has had a rough start to August, giving up 4ER each to the Braves and Dodgers over just 11.0 IP for a 6.55 ERA. Cleveland tries to even up the series behind Tanner Bibee (10-4, 3.39 ERA) who has been the hotter of Saturday’s two starting pitchers. Cleveland has won four straight Bibee starts, and he’s coming off 5.2 IP of 1 ER ball in Sunday’s victory over the Twins.
