Seattle (64-62) dropped the series opener in Los Angeles 3-0 on Monday, the fifth time in their last seven games they’ve been held to 2 runs or less. The Dodgers (74-52) are headed to the postseason, it’s just that the last month plus of the year will determine if they hold off San Diego and Arizona for the NL West or get in via the wild card.

The last two games have shown the inconsistency of the Seattle offense, as they were up 7-0 by the 4th inning in a 10-3 win over Pittsburgh on Sunday but were held to 2 hits in Monday’s defeat. Bryan Woo held the Dodgers offense relatively in check with 6.1 IP of 2 ER ball, but LA’s Gavin Stone dazzled with 7.0 IP while striking out 10.

Seattle hopes for more success at the plate on Tuesday night against Dodgers starter Walker Buehler (1-4, 5.58 ERA) who has struggled since returning from the IL. Buehler lasted just 3.1 IP while allowing 3ER to the Brewers on Wednesday, his first outing since June 18 after suffering a hip injury.

Seattle goes with Bryce Miller (9-7, 3.29 ERA) in game two as he looks for a third straight scoreless outing (13.0 IP). Miller has actually held opponents to 0 ER in four of his last six starts, but obviously playing the Dodgers’ #5 scoring offense (4.89 runs/game) presents a little different challenge.
