With all due respect to the likes of the Yankees and the Phillies, this week’s Orioles vs Dodgers series could very easily be a World Series preview. If that’s the case, Baltimore will take that scenario after winning the opener 3-2 on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Before Betting on August 28 Orioles vs Dodgers

Even in a game with two of the top four scoring teams in baseball, Tuesday’s opener was dominated by pitching. Each team collected only 7 hits and neither bullpen allowed a run. A Ramon Urias 2-run HR in the 5th inning proved to be the game winner and propelled the Orioles to their third win in the last four games. L.A. has now dropped two of three after a 5-game win streak.

Will Wednesday’s game two be another low scoring affair or will the offenses come to life? The Orioles send their #1 Corbin Burnes (12-6, 3.28 ERA) to the hill but he’s hardly pitched like an ace lately. Burnes still has very good overall numbers, but he has an 8.71 ERA in August allowing 4, 3, 8, and 5 runs in four starts. The Dodgers roster has hit just .200 in 100 career ABs vs. Burnes however.

The Dodgers counter Burnes with the man who battled him for the Cy Young Award in 2021, Walker Buehler (1-4, 6.09 ERA). Like Burnes, Buehler has had a tough go of it lately but some of that could be blamed on missing nearly two months with a hip injury. Buehler has allowed 3ER in each of his two starts since returning, but that’s been over just 7.1 total IP.

August 28 Orioles vs Dodgers Prediction & Pick

Pitching dominated game one of this heavyweight series, and on paper it should in game two as well. However, neither Burnes nor Buehler have looked very good their last few starts, and it’s hard to silence these high-powered offenses two games in a row.

Pick: Over 8.5
