Austin Hubbard vs. Kurt Holobaugh was only recently added to the UFC 292 fight card, but you definitely want to pay attention to this fight. Why? Because this is the Final of the Lightweight tournament of The Ultimate Fighter: Team McGregor vs. Team Chandler.

Before Betting on Hubbard vs. Holobaugh TUF Fight (UFC 292)

Austin Hubbard (17-6) is a former LFA Lightweight champ who fought seven UFC fights from 2019 to 2021, winning 50% of those. In 2023, he fought two fights in The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) for the team captained by Michael Chandler. First, he defeated Aaron McKenzie by unanimous decision, then he beat Roosevelt Roberts by a split decision.

On Saturday, August 19, Hubbard is fighting his teammate Kurt Holobaugh for the 2023 TUF title. Like Hubbard, Holobaugh too fought in the UFC in the past. Actually, he had two stints in this promotion. The first was 10 years ago when he lost two fights (one in Strikeforce, a promotion that was acquired by the UFC).

Then, in 2017, he took part in Dana White Contender Series, knocking out Matt Bessette. However, the result was overturned after it was revealed that Holobaugh used IV before the fight. From there, he went on to lose three UFC fights in a row – to Raoni Barcelos, Shane Burgos, and Thiago Moses.

It’s a bad record, but you should keep in mind that all three of those fighters were in their prime when they fought Holobaugh. Plus, since leaving the UFC, he’s 2-0 in XFC (both wins by KO/TKO) and has two finishes in The Ultimate Fighter 31 (one by submission and one by KO/TKO).

Holobaugh’s TUF odds don’t do him any favor, but this guy is a true warrior who’s ready to lift his career to the next level. He’s already 36, so this could be his last chance to prove to the world he deserves to be in the UFC.

Pick: Kurt Holobaugh to win (+160)
