The host nation at the Women’s World Cup will be in action in the round of 16 on Monday, as Australia will be looking to keep their hopes alive. Denmark will be their opponents in the round of 16, but they are yet to hit top gear at the competition.

Before Betting On Australia vs Denmark

Australia survived a scare to reach the round of 16, as they were heading out of the competition as we went into the final round of matches in Group B. However, they were able to rise to the occasion in their must-win showdown with Canada, as they registered a huge 4-0 win. It was Australia’s best performance at the World Cup to this point, and their chances of going deep in the competition will certainly be aided by the return of Sam Kerr as the knockout round gets underway.

Australia eventually ended the group stage at the top of the standings, as they finished a point clear of Nigeria. That could yet prove to be a pivotal factor, as it avoided a showdown against a resurgent England in the round of 16. Hayley Raso was in excellent form on matchday three, as the Aussie scored twice. Meanwhile, Stephanie Catley maintained her excellent performance levels by netting twice.

Denmark also avoided a nervy final round of matches on matchday three, but much of their confidence was likely down to the fact that England beat China 6-1, which meant that the Asian nation always appeared unlikely to trouble the Danes for second spot in the group. Denmark made sure that they did their job, as they recorded a 2-0 win over Haiti in Perth.

Pernille Harder scored her first goal at the World Cup this summer, as the veteran striker found the net from the penalty spot. But, the win wasn’t secured until the last kick of the game, as Sanne Troelsgaard ensured that maximum points were assured for the second time in three matches.
