The host nation return to action at the Women’s World Cup on Saturday, as they look to book their spot in the final four of their home competition. However, they will come against a French side that have grown into the tournament every time that they have taken to the field.

Before Betting On Australia vs France

A fascinating showdown is set for Suncorp Stadium this weekend, as the host nation will be looking to reach the semi-final stage at the Women’s World Cup for the first time in their history. Australia has managed to reach the last eight on three previous occasions, but they lost on all appearances between 2007 and 2015. Over that period, they scored just three goals, and allowed seven in total.

However, they come into this match in solid recent form, as they have won each of their last two. But, the Aussies have never won three straight matches at the competition in their history. Australia has also managed to keep clean sheets in their last two matches for the first time, which is a huge achievement after keeping just one clean sheet in their opening 26 matches at the competition.

But, the host nation has often fallen short at this stage of the competition throughout history, with the hosts exiting their home tournament in each of the previous four editions. The only host nation to progress further was the United States, as they reached the final in 2003.

France will look to continue their impressive form, as they have now scored ten goals across their last two matches. Four of those were scored in their round of 16 victory over Morocco. However, the French have never beaten Australia away from home across all competitions, as they have lost three from four. That includes a 1-0 loss when the sides met in a pre-tournament friendly in July.

We expect this to be a close match between two evenly matched-sides. However, the slight preference is for France, who have looked impressive with every showing that they have made at the competition to this point.
