One of the biggest soccer fixtures on the planet will take center stage on Saturday afternoon, as Real Madrid and Barcelona collide in the first El Clasico of the campaign. Both sides will be aware that maximum points this weekend could see them end the weekend at the top of the standings.

Before Betting On Barcelona vs Real Madrid

El Clasico is a match that requires very little build up, as it will see the two biggest sides in Spain go head-to-head. Real Madrid have shaded the league meetings between the sides in history, as they have landed 77 wins compared to 74 victories recorded by Barcelona. Their dominance in recent matches should also be acknowledged, as they have won five of the previous seven.

However, Barcelona were excellent winners in the most recent showdown between the Spanish giants, as they landed a 2-1 win at the Nou Camp in March. But, Real Madrid have an advantage at present, as they sit above their arch rivals in the league standings coming into the weekend.

Real have gone four without a defeat coming into this weekend, and they have won three times over that period. However, they will be looking to get back on track domestically after playing out a draw on the road against Sevilla last weekend. But, they recovered from that setback in midweek with a fine win in the Champions League against Braga.

Barcelona remains the only side in La Liga that are yet to suffer a defeat this term, as they have won seven and drawn three of their opening ten matches. A victory for the hosts could see them end the weekend at the top of the standings. However, they have recorded just three victories across their last five in La Liga. Their most recent success was a dramatic 1-0 win against Athletic Bilbao in front of their home fans.
