The inaugural UFL season continues to heat up in the second half. This Week 7 matchup features a clash between the St. Louis Battlehawks (5-1) and the Birmingham Stallions (6-0). The Stallions clinched a playoff spot last week, but will still fight to remain undefeated. This clash against St. Louis may just be a preview of the championship.

Before Betting on Battlehawks vs Stallions

The Battlehawks picked up their 5th straight win on Saturday, defeating the Roughnecks 22-8. A continued dominance on both sides of the ball has St. Louis closing in on clinching a playoff spot. Before they can claim their position in the postseason, however, the Battlehawks will first need to face the 6-0 Stallions. Only the Stallions have a better record than St. Louis so far this season.

The 22-8 victory over Houston was cemented by excellent defensive play, giving up 0 points through the first three quarters. The Battlehawks also excelled offensively. WR Hakeem Butler has emerged as one of the premier WRs in the entire UFL. He reeled in 12 catches for 281 yards and 4 TDs in just the last two games. An area for offensive improvement is the running game, which carried the ball 17 times for -5 yards on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Stallions had an offensive explosion of their own, defeating the Showboats on the road 39-21. The win improved them to 6-0, as Birmingham remains a favorite to win it all this year. Their biggest competition may be the Battlehawks, who they’ll host this week. QB Adrian Martinez will aim to build on a sensational performance in which he went 23 for 36 for 369 yards and 4 touchdowns.

Birmingham clinched a playoff spot following Saturday’s win, allowing them to breathe a sigh of relief early on in the season. They can’t let up, however, with home-field advantages still up for grabs. This week’s games against St. Louis will provide the toughest test of the season, and an example of what the playoffs will be like.

This is likely to be the best game of the UFL regular season, taking place between its two top teams. A 5-game winning streak clashes with a 6-game winning streak in this matchup, with only one team able to keep it going. The Stallions have an advantage as the home team, and also hold a better record. That being said, the Battlehawks have been truly dominant lately. St. Louis is capable of pulling off the upset here.
