Two Bad Offenses Meet up at MetLife

The Bears Giants week 4 matchup is an interesting one as both teams are 2-1 but neither has been particularly impressive. Chicago has a 19-10 win over San Francisco in the rain and slop and then held on to beat the lowly Texans by a field goal last Sunday. New York has won by a combined 4 points over Tennessee and Carolina before losing 23-16 to Dallas playing a backup QB last Sunday.

Both teams think they can win this game and it’s almost surprising that the Giants are around a field goal favorite on the offshore odds. That’s not because Chicago is good, it’s because New York is banged up as QB Daniel Jones will be missing Kadarius Toney, Wan’Dale Robinson, and Sterling Shepard (who is out for the year with an Achilles tear) from a passing game that wasn’t very good to begin with. That should allow Chicago to focus more on stopping Saquon Barkley.

The Giants are also missing Leonard Williams on their defensive line and Chicago has the #2 rushing offense in the league after three games. That helps balance out the NFL’s worst passing offense (78.3 ypg) so New York can equally stuff the box and make Justin Fields beat them.

Bears Giants Week 4 Prediction

There’s value on the Bears ML here because this really seems like a coin flip game between two bad teams. The Giants are at home, but also very banged up. Both teams can run the ball and this feels like a one score game that isn’t going to see a lot of points scored. There’s a little better value on the under at Pinnacle with half-a-point edge, so the Bears +135 and the under 39 would be the play.
