Minnesota On a Long Travel Week

Teams often like to take their bye after the trip to London, but that’s not the case in the Bears Vikings week 5 matchup as Minnesota is choosing to save their off week for later in the year. The Vikings (3-1) picked up the win over the Saints 28-25, and are pretty confident they can beat Chicago even while jet lagged.

It’s just hard to see how Chicago is going to stay in this game if Minnesota gets clicking. Vikings WR Justin Jefferson had 147 yards receiving last week, and the Bears start two rookies in the secondary while also being without their best cover man Jaylon Johnson (quad).

Surprisingly the passing game might not be Chicago’s biggest concern, as they’re down to last place in the NFL giving up 183.3 rushing yards per game. Those rushing defense numbers blew up a bit after the Giants amassed 262 rush yards last week. Minnesota RB Dalvin Cook should be poised to crack 100 yards rushing for the first time this season.

Aside from their struggling and banged up defense, one of the other reasons you can’t take Chicago in Sunday’s matchup is because they’re offense is horrendous. Chicago can run the ball just fine (177.3 ypg) but their passing attack is historically bad with just 97.5 ypg through four outings.

Bears vs Vikings Prediction

There’s a possible middling opportunity with the point spread being all the way up to 9 points at BetUS, otherwise a pick on the Bears upset has the best value at Pinnacle. The travel from London has to have some effect on Minnesota, but Chicago just doesn’t have the offense to contend once the Vikings get rolling.
