Cincinnati Needs a Win To Boost Its Playoff Hopes
The Bengals are repeating a familiar scenario from 2023 when they struggled early, played catchup all season, and finally fell short of the playoffs despite finishing at 9-8.
For NFL Week 10 against the Ravens, the Bengals are two games behind their divisional rival. They have several winnable games on the horizon against weaker teams. Victory in Baltimore is key.
Scoring has not been an issue for Cincinnati. They are seventh in the NFL in points per game and scored 41 against the Raiders in Week 9. Cincinnati’s defense remains shaky and they are ranked near the bottom third in the league in surrendering rushing yards and passing yards per game.
Quarterback Joe Burrow is having another excellent year and would be in the MVP conversation if Cincinnati had a better record. He threw for five touchdowns against Las Vegas.
Running back Chase Brown is on the injury report with a rib injury, but was a full participant at practice and is expected to play.
Baltimore’s Offensive Machine Rolls On
In Week 9 against Denver, Baltimore scored 40+ points for the third time this season. Their offense has been a well-oiled machine led by running back Derrick Henry and quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Their rush defense is first in the NFL and their pass defense is last. They took steps to shore up that area by acquiring veteran cornerback Tre’Davious White from the Rams.
Baltimore is one-half game behind Pittsburgh in the division. Losing to Cincinnati would put them a full game behind the Steelers. Pittsburgh plays in Washington on Sunday.
Baltimore and Pittsburgh have yet to play each other this season. The games will be played on Nov. 17 and Dec. 21.
Bengals vs Ravens Prediction: Powerful Offenses Put Up Points
The point spread is six in favor of Baltimore. Four of Cincinnati’s losses were within that range. That includes the earlier loss to Baltimore. These two teams have racked up the points all season and Thursday night should be no different. They will score more than 53.
