The women’s French Open action continues at Roland Garros on Thursday, as a thrilling day of second-round action lies ahead. One of the former Grand Slam champions in action in Paris on Thursday comes in the form of Bianca Andreescu, as the Canadian clashes with Emma Navarro.

Before Betting On Bianca Andreescu vs Emma Navarro

The standout tie in the women’s second-round on Thursday comes as Bianca Andreescu collides with Emma Navarro. Andreescu upset all the odds back in 2019, as she landed a shock US Open win. However, since then, she has been eliminated in the second rounds of the US Open and Australian Open.

The Canadian have already matched her previous best showing in Paris, as she also reached the second round of the French Open back in 2019 and 2022. However, there was a lot to like about her display against 18th seed Viktoria Azarenka earlier this week.

Andreescu’s injury issues looked behind her in that three-set thriller, as she came back from 1-0 down to take a commanding 2-1 win. It was a manner of performance that we haven’t seen for some time, and if she has recovered in time for this second-round showdown, she should be difficult to beat.

Emma Navarro was also forced into a third-set shootout in her opening round, but she came back strong to land the deciding set on Tuesday afternoon. The American’s big-serving style could be a factor in this showdown against the former US Open champion, but she will certainly still need a career-best performance.

Navarro does have previous success at the French Open on her side, as she won the doubles Juniors’ titles in 2019 on the clay surface. Meanwhile, she was beaten in the singles event in the same year by talented Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

This will be the first clash between these two stars, and it could make for fascinating viewing. We were extremely impressed by Andreescu’s performance levels on Tuesday, but her long-term injury issues do raise questions with such a quick turnaround. Therefore, we will be siding with Navarro to reach the third round.
