Before Betting On Black-Eyed Susan Stakes

The second leg of the Filly Triple Crown will take place at Pimlico on the eve of the Preakness Stakes this week. The Black-Eyed Susan Stakes has been contested since 1919 when it was previously known as the Pimlico Oaks. A total distance of 1 1/8 miles will be covered by fillies aged three this weekend, with the winner claiming their share of the $300,000 purse.

Corposo could end up going off very short for trainer Peter Eurton this weekend, with the three-year-old boasting some solid ratings across her three starts to date. She was a very impressive winner of a maiden special weight at Santa Anita, before finishing a very respectable third in the G2 Santa Anita Oaks.

Recharge will start from the widest possible draw for the team of Steve Asmussen and Joel Rosario, but she boasts a very progressive profile. The three-year-old has won three from four career starts, but came up short on her first step into graded company when fifth in the G2 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park.

Meanwhile, Gun Song is the runner for Mark Hening, with John Velazquez taking the ride this week. This filly has won twice from five career starts, and was also short on her first step into graded company when finishing fourth in the G2 Gulfstream Park Oaks in late March.

It’s a pretty swift turnaround for Lemon Muffin for D. Wayne Lukas, but she could boast value in the betting if able to bounce back from her eighth in the G1 Kentucky Oaks. Call Another Play is also an outside chance after winning three from four this season, and she was very impressive when winning the Weber City Miss Stakes on her latest appearance.
