Before Betting on Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes UFC 303 Fight
We have already done an Alex Pereira vs. Jiri Prochazka 2 prediction as the UFC 303 headliner is the most exciting fight on the card. However, we also think the co-main event – Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes – is going to be a real thriller.
First of all, it’s because both fighters are hopeful a good performance on June 22 will earn them a shot at the UFC Featherweight title. Speaking of which, Brian Ortega (16-3-1) has already fought for the title on two occasions.
The first time he did it, Max Holloway beat him by a TKO (doctor stoppage). His second shot at the title happened against Alexander Volkanovski who beat him by unanimous decision after 25 minutes of fighting.
After losing to Volk in 2021, Ortega lost to Yair Rodriguez in 2022 by a TKO caused by a shoulder injury. He then took a hiatus of almost two years before coming to the Octagon to fight El Pantera again in February 2024. This time, he won by submission.
Four months later, he’s supposed to lock horns with rising UFC star, Diego Lopes (24-6). This guy won his last three fights by a finish in the first round. He’s strong, powerful, and has plenty of lethal weapons in his arsenal.
The only thing he lacks is experience with fighting at the highest level. But if he wins on June 29, Lopes has every right to hope to get a chance to fight for the title.
Brian Ortega vs. Diego Lopes UFC 303 Odds & Prediction
Brian Ortega has fought the who’s who of the UFC Featherweight division; Diego Lopes has not. In fact, he’s never fought against a ranked opponent before. This, in our eyes, is a major advantage for Ortega.
But that’s not all – this guy is also probably 100% focused on the fight as winning on June 29 could get him back in the title conversation.
