However, Brighton were unable to match those lofty heights throughout the 2023-24 season, as they struggled to maintain their form after making a quick start. De Zerbi opted to leave the club in the final week of the season, with reports indicating that he could have his sights set on the Man United job.
Kieran McKenna had been the front-runner to take over at the club, but it’s now likely that he will be staying at Ipswich Town. McKenna has been rewarded after guiding the club to back-to-back promotions with a new multi-year deal, which could make him one of the highest paid coaches in the top-flight.
Graham Potter has been out of work since being sacked at Chelsea, and despite being linked with the Man United job, a more sensible return to the sport could see him make a stunning return to the South Coast.
