Bruno Fernandes is widely regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in the world of soccer, and despite a poor campaign for Man United, the 29-year-old has still recorded solid numbers. Fernandes has registered 28 goal contributions for the Red Devils this term, which includes ten goals and seven assists in a testing Premier League campaign.
However, his long-term future at the club has been questioned in recent weeks, with Fernandes admitting that he will assess his next steps after the European Championships in the summer. Fernandes’ departure would be a hammer blow for United, as the current captain is largely regarded as their one ‘world’ class player at this moment.
The Portuguese star joined United in the winter of 2020 in a $55 million deal from Sporting Lisbon. He enjoyed an excellent stay in Portugal with his home club, winning numerous honors and being named the Player of the Year after netting 33 goals across all competitions in 2018-19.
He quickly hit the ground running for the Red Devils in the second half of the 2019-20 season, netting 12 times in 22 appearances in all competitions. Fernandes has consistently scored and assisted ten goals per season for United, taking his tally for goals to 79 in 230 appearances across four full seasons.
