The New York Giants (2-8) host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4-6). Our Buccaneers vs Giants prediction is for favored Tampa to win the game outright.
Tampa has lost four straight, partially due to a hellish schedule. The Giants are a disaster only overshadowed by its stadium mate, the Jets, who just fired their general manager.
Head-to-head, the Giants lead 16-9.

Injury-ravaged Tampa Bay Has Shown Fight
Despite its four-game losing streak and rampant injuries, Tampa Bay is still within striking distance of a playoff spot. They are 1.5 games behind NFC South-leading Atlanta and their schedule lightens up considerably starting with New York.
Led by quarterback Baker Mayfield’s likely Pro Bowl season, Tampa has stayed competitive even without star wideouts Mike Evans (hamstring) and Chris Godwin (broken ankle).
Evans is close to a return.
Mayfield has thrown for over 2,500 yards and only nine interceptions. His 24 touchdown passes are good for third in the NFL.
Often, scheduling is a weak excuse for a poorly performing team. In the Bucs’ case, it’s a reason, not an excuse. Those four straight losses were to Baltimore, Atlanta, Kansas City, and San Francisco — two playoff teams and last season’s Super Bowl contestants.
Giants Bench Daniel Jones for Tommy DeVito
New York cited Daniel Jones’ poor performance as the impetus to bench him. It’s inarguable that he has played badly. Still, he’s been forced to run for his life having been sacked 29 times, fifth most in the league.
The Giants not only announced Tommy DeVito (aka Tommy Cutlets) as the starter but Jones was demoted to third-string behind Drew Lock. He then asked for his release and it was granted. They signed journeyman quarterback Tim Boyle to the practice squad.
There was a financial incentive to this move. Jones’ contract had an injury clause that he would receive $23 million if he failed his March 2025 physical even if the team cut him. It’s best that both sides moved on, more so for Jones. He will have options once he clears waivers.
in 2023, DeVito showed some positive attributes. He threw eight TD passes against three picks, completing 114 of 178 passes. Hopefully for him and the Giants, the off-field distractions of being a New Jersey kid and, bluntly, his family cashing in on his sudden fame will recede into the background.
If New York can’t protect him any better than they did Jones, he won’t have much more success.
Buccaneers vs Giants Prediction: Bucs Should Get Back in the Win Column
Tampa desperately needs a win. New York is a mess regardless of who is at quarterback.
Our Buccaneers vs Giants prediction is for New York to play better with DeVito, but ultimately lose.
