Bayer Leverkusen upset the odds last term, as they won their first-ever Bundesliga crown in dominant fashion. The German side went unbeaten throughout the season, ending the campaign with 28 victories and six draws. However, winning the top flight title is one thing, but successfully defending the honor often proves more tricky.
Xabi Alonso has strengthened his squad throughout the summer, with their main signings coming in the forms of Aleix Garcia and Martin Terrier. However, pre-season has been challenging for the German champions, as they have won just once in four matches. They have also been shipping far too many goals, with eight goals conceded.
Bayern Munich have turned to Vincent Kompany in their bid to reclaim the Bundesliga title this term, and big money has been spent on the signings of Michael Olise and Joao Palhinha. However, I’d have big questions surrounding Kompany’s managerial style when it comes to Bayern’s chances this term, as he is unlikely to get the same respect from proven winners as he did during his time at Burnley.
Borussia Dortmund finished the previous season down in fifth, but it would be fair to say that their attention was firmly on the Champions League final in the final month of the campaign. Nuri Sahin is the new man in the dugout, and despite the addition of Serhou Guirassy, a top-four finish will be their main goal this term.

I struggle to see Leverkusen’s fairy tale continuing with a second straight Bundesliga title this term, and I’m also not totally convinced by Kompany at Bayern. Therefore, a preferred outright angle is for the consistent RB Leipzig to finish in the top two in the Bundesliga this term following a progressive campaign with a young squad in 2023-24.
