Before Betting On Burnley vs Man City

Another thrilling campaign of Premier League soccer gets underway on Friday, as Man City chase an unprecedented fourth straight title. The reigning champions are heavy favorites to achieve that honor, and they will be preferred in the betting for their opening day assignment against Burnley this weekend. City’s domestic season didn’t get off to the ideal start, as they were beaten in the Community Shield by Arsenal on Sunday.

Cole Palmer opened the scoring for City, but they were pegged back with virtually the last kick of the game. However, it would certainly be a benefit for their campaign, based on the fact that only one Community Shield winner since 2011 has gone on to win the Premier League title. It has been all change at the Treble winners this summer, with Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez both leaving the club. However, the arrivals of Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol certainly make City stronger.

Vincent Kompany enjoyed a stellar first campaign in charge at Burnley, as the Clarets returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking. They were excellent throughout the season, and gained promotion with seven matches of the Championship season remaining. During the campaign, they won ten matches on the bounce, which equalled the Championship record.

The emphasis will once again be on young players this season, with Kompany adding Dara O’Shea, James Trafford, and Jordan Beyer to his squad. However, they will likely have to sway away from their possession-based game at times this term, as they are unlikely to dominate the ball against some of the best teams in the Premier League.
