One of the pre tournament favorites to win the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2023 take to the field on Tuesday, as Canada open their campaign against Guadeloupe. Canada reached the final four in 2021, and will be looking to win the competition for a second time.

Before Betting On Canada vs Guadeloupe

The action in Group D gets underway in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Tuesday, with all four teams in action. The pick of the matches will see Canada take to the field at BMO Field in Toronto, as they look to get off to a dream start against Guadeloupe. They have something to prove in their opening match, as they were recently beaten in the final of the Nations League by the United States.

However, this does have the sense of a tournament where a number of fringe players will be handed an opportunity to shine. That is evident by many of the top European-based players being absent from the squad for the competition. But, Canada remains one of the standout picks to win the tournament, as they come into the Gold Cup in fine form this year after winning three of their four matches.

Guadeloupe will be looking to cause an upset in Group D, as they have only made it through the group stage on two previous occasions. They competed in the tournament two years ago, but they exited at the first hurdle after losing all three of their matches.

However, they do have fine historical performances in the competition, as they reached the final four in 2007, and the last eight in 2009. They have looked strong in recent matches, as they eased through the qualification campaign with victories over Antigua and Barbuda and Guyana without conceding a goal.

The previous clashes between these sides have only been won by the victors by a single-goal margin. That certainly highlights that this opening clash will be a tight affair. But, we find it extremely challenging to overlook Canada.
