Even though the Carabao Cup is not as popular as FA, the clash between Everton and Manchester United is drawing enormous attention.

Everton vs. Manchester United Preview

Both the Toffees and Red Devils showed signs of life over the recent few weeks. They would recover following a nasty stretch that saw Everton slipping down on the EPL standings, and on the other side, United exiting the Champions League. However, all that is behind now, as Ancelotti and Solskjaer successfully recovered their respective squads. Winning this contest would present a significant morale boost for the upcoming challenges in the Premiership, and also, provide a chance to get one step closer to the EFL trophy.

Everton Rising On Good Defense

Unlike the start of the year when Richarlison, James Rodriguez, and Dominic Calvert-Lewin made the difference on the field in Everton’s games, things are changed now.

The defensive unit leads the Toffees to new wins, with their back line allowing just one goal in the past three games. Ancelotti’s team won all three of them, by the way. To make it even better, they played against the top English teams.

At first, they would beat Chelsea, 1-0, after that Leicester, 0-2 on the road, and in the latest clash, Arsenal 2-1. Just by looking at the names in these attacks, you get dazzled, and you can now get a clear picture of how well Everton’s defenders had to play to keep such superstars restrained.

United Slowly Getting Back on Track

The Red Devils packed nine goals in the past two matches, and even though they allowed four, left a big impression on fans. At first, United beat Sheffield United on the road, 2-3, and after that demolished, Leeds at Old Trafford, 6-2.

After losing against RB Leipzig, many believed that Man Utd might fall apart, especially because they played against hated archrivals, Manchester City. The Citizens didn’t push hard in that one, and 0-0 was just enough for both sides.

A good thing for Solskjaer is that he doesn’t have too many injured players, unlike Ancelotti, who can’t count on Allan, Fabian Delph, and Lucas Digne. James Rodriguez is doubtful. Among the Red Devils, the only ones ineligible are Phil Jones and Marcus Rojo.

Everton vs. Manchester United Head to Head Matches

Approximately six weeks ago, United visited Everton and beat the Toffees at Goodison with 1-3. Bernard opened the game well for the hosts, but very quickly, Bruno Fernandes turned the result upside down with two fast goals. Edinson Cavani would seal the victory in the 90+5.

Everton vs. Manchester United Pick

The two managers will probably mix their lineups a little bit. Still, we expect to see the majority of the standard first-team players involved in Wednesday’s match. That should provide some goals, and our pick here would be a moderate efficiency, meaning two or three scores. Odds on this are between -105 and +105.
