Manchester City and Manchester United clash in the Carabao Cup semifinals, with the first game taking place at Old Trafford. Both sides are in solid shape and have high ambitions in this competition. United recently began playing pretty well, and they already reached second place in the EPL standings. As for City, Guardiola’s team is superb as always, and their form is on the rise, with Chelsea experiencing that this Sunday. Lack of fans is a massive handicap, but even so, we expect to see a spectacle.

Solskjaer After a Trophy

The Norwegian manager needs to get his hands on a trophy, the sooner, the better. Even though he currently handles the situation very well, fast forward a few losses, and the fans, as well as the media, would be on his back again. Ole is still doubted a lot, and to be honest, there is plenty of reasons for that.

But to focus on the present. The Red Devils have five wins and a draw in the past six games, scoring twice or more in only but the win vs. Wolves, 1-0. They bounced back following the exit from the Champions League, with a 0-0 draw against City, and from that moment on kept on pounding game after game.

Edinson Cavani is out for this match, serving the suspension. Phil Jones is injured, the same as Victor Lindelof and Marcus Rojo.

City Under the Radar

The Sky-Blues inefficient performances are masking a row of 11 events without a defeat. During that period, City kept seven clean sheets and played only four games with three or more goals. The most recent one was this Sunday against Chelsea, whom they knocked out at Stamford, 1-3.

Just to add that City had a 0-3 lead already in the first half, and that if they kept on going at the same pace, things could have become nasty for the Blues. It was a display of ruthless power in that opening 45 minutes.

City’s last five games on the road have all been derbies, Porto in the Champions League, then United, Southampton, Arsenal, Chelsea in the EPL. And they allowed two goals during this stretch, but scoring at least three in those two contests.

Guardiola can’t count on Ederson, Gabriel Jesus, Laporte, and Kyle Walker.

Manchester United vs. Manchester City Head to Head Matches

The last game was less than a month ago, also at Old Trafford. There weren’t any goals, and over the past three meetings, we saw both sides not to score. During that period, United won twice, and one match saw a draw.

Manchester United vs. Manchester City Pick

This is only the first leg, and we expect a slow pace, with conservative tactics coming from both Ole and Pep. United usually defends against strong teams, while City keeps the ball in its feet and looks for a weak spot in the rival’s back line. Due to all this, under 2.5 goals is our choice. The odds for that are at -125.
