The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is planning to end the 2023 season with a bang. The UFC 296 event scheduled for Saturday, December 16 is packed with incredible matches, not just on the main card but also when it comes to the preliminaries. The Casey O’Neill vs. Ariane Lipski UFC 296 preliminary fight definitely proves our point.

This UFC Women’s Flyweight fight is the one that kicks off the preliminary card action and we think bettors mustn’t miss it. The main reason is that even though O’Neill and Lipski are two very similar fighters, their betting odds differ a lot.

The O’Neill vs. Lipski odds are favoring the Scottish-Australian fighter, but our prediction is that the Brazilian will cause an upset at UFC 296. To learn why, just keep on reading this O’Neil vs. Lipski prediction!

Before Betting on Casey O’Neill vs. Ariane Lipski UFC 296 Fight

Before you put your money on the UFC 296 preliminary card opener, there are a few things you should know. First of all, the O’Neill vs. Lipski odds favor O’Neill because of her superb record. The Scotland-born Aussie fighter is 9-1 overall.

However, there’s a caveat. She’s never fought against a fighter with more than 50% in the UFC. Even Jennifer Maia – the only fighter to beat her – had a 5-5 record in the UFC before the fight with O’Neil.

Ariane Lipski is also 5-5 in the UFC, while her overall record is 16-8. “The Queen of Violence” has fought some real tough opponents so far, even some who are much bigger and stronger than her.

Her most recent loss, for example, happened against Priscila Cachoeira in a bantamweight fight. Since returning to the flyweight division, she’s 2-0 with wins over JJ Aldrich and Melissa Gatto.

In each of those fights, Lipski won the striking battle against her opponent, which is no surprise as she’s a hell of a Muay Thai kickboxer. Kickboxing is O’Neill’s strongest weapon as well, so we’re likely to see a striking battle on December 16.

But what if Lipski decides to take the fight to the floor? Even though she’s not famous for her wrestling prowess, she did make three takedowns in her last two fights. Before that, we saw her make just one TD in eight UFC fights.

Ariane Lipski is a more well-rounded fighter than Casey O’Neill, and we also think she’s on-pair with her when it comes to kickboxing.

Sure, O’Neill lands more significant strikes than anyone else in the UFC – 8.77 strikes a minute – but her strikes aren’t too powerful. At least not powerful enough for Lipski.
