After winning big in Game 1 of this series, the Boston Celtics will be fighting to take a 2-0 lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers. The odds weigh heavily in Boston’s favor, especially for Game 2 at home. Cleveland will need a full offensive rejuvenation to have any shot of staying alive in this series.

Before Betting on Cavaliers vs Celtics

Donovan Mitchell led all scorers on both teams for the third straight game, yet the Cavaliers fell to 1-2 in those matchups. Aside from Mitchell, Cleveland continues to struggle offensively. After escaping a defensively talented Orlando team in the first round, they face another gauntlet against Boston. They need to avoid falling behind 2-0 in Game 2.

The Cavs need Darius Garland to heat up and support Mitchell in Game 2. Garland has struggled all postseason and was especially futile on Tuesday. He shot 6-15 and posted a -19 +/-. If the Cavaliers heat up offensively, they can’t be completed written off against a Celtics team that is without Kristaps Porzingis. That being said, they are already running out of time to catch up in this series.

Boston remains a massive favorite to win the Eastern Conference, as well as the current favorite to win the NBA Finals. Al Horford and Luke Kornet did an excellent job filling in for the injured Porzingis, combining for 11 points, 18 rebounds, and 6 assists in 48 minutes. While they were dominant on the boards, the Celtics were also certainly missing Porzingis’ unicorn scoring ability.

Despite being down an offensive asset, Boston still defeated the Cavs by 25 points, showcasing their sheer level of talent. With their eyes remaining on the Finals, the Celtics will look to take one step closer by taking a 2-0 lead in Game 2. Following the same patterns as Game 1 should be enough for Boston to win this one.

This is likely a game that is best avoided in terms of betting. If you take the Celtics, you’ll barely make anything back because of the odds. Meanwhile, if you bet on Cleveland you are taking a long-shot risk that they pull off the upset. I don’t think the Cavs will get swept in this series, but their first win is much more likely to come back at home in Cleveland. Boston should win Game 2 by double digits once again.
