One of the games on tap from Wednesday night’s NBA slate features the Oklahoma City Thunder hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers. Which team keeps its winning streak intact in our Thunder vs Cavaliers prediction?

Thunder Coming Off Impressive Win Against Celtics

The Thunder enter this matchup with double-digit wins in their last three contests. This includes a 115-92 victory over the Boston Celtics on Saturday night. Four players reached double figures in that game, headlined by a solid performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. He scored a team-high 33 points, grabbed 11 boards, handed out six assists, and collected three steals. He also converted three of his six attempts from beyond the arc.

Lu Dort added 14 points and six rebounds. Cason Wallace finished with 13 points, while Jalen Williams contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and five assists. OKC trailed 65-55 at the break but turned things around afterward.

The Thunder trimmed the deficit to four points (80-76) after the third quarter and then outscored Boston by a 29-12 margin in the final frame en route to their 15th consecutive victory. OKC held Boston to a season-low 27 points in the second half.

Cleveland Looks To Stay Hot Against Thunder

The Cavaliers have been playing some solid basketball as well. Their average margin of victory in their last five outings is 13.2 points per game. In their recent outing, they defeated the Charlotte Hornets 115-105 on Sunday night. Darius Garland led a balanced scoring attack with 25 points on 8-for-14 from the field and 4-for-7 from 3-point range.

Jarrett Allen finished with a double-double that included 19 points and 12 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell added 19 points and four assists, while Evan Mobley chipped in with 17 points and five boards. After outscoring Charlotte 29-23 in the opening stanza, Cleveland opened the second quarter with a 24-6 outburst to take a commanding 53-29 lead.

The Cavaliers improved to 31-4, and only four teams in NBA history have posted a better record through 35 games. The Golden State Warriors (33-2) in 2015-16, Philadelphia 76ers (32-3) in 1966-67, the Los Angeles Lakers (32-3) in 1971-72, and the Chicago Bulls (32-3) in 1995-96.

Thunder vs Cavaliers Prediction: OKC Gets The “W”

The Thunder have won a franchise record 15 straight games and have not lost a regular-season matchup since Dec. 1. Besides having the eighth-highest offensive rating, OKC boasts the top defense in the association.

Meanwhile, Cleveland has reeled off 10 straight following a 122-113 setback against the Miami Heat on Dec. 8. From a scoring perspective, the Cavaliers have the top offense in the NBA. And while they are not quite as good as OKC defensively, they still rank in the top 10 at that end of the floor. In what will be the best matchup of the night, look for the Thunder to post their fourth consecutive win over the Cavaliers.
