Oddsmakers Calling This One Even

2-2 Los Angeles makes the always tough trip across the Mississippi River from the West Coast for the Chargers Browns week 5 matchup in Cleveland. L.A. was able to lick their wounds following the 38-10 beating from Jacksonville in week three to notch a 34-24 victory in Houston last weekend.

The hard luck Browns are 2-2 on the year with their two losses coming by a combined four points. That mark includes a 23-20 loss at Atlanta last week, but Cleveland still has the #2 rushing offense in the league at 187.3 ypg paced by Nick Chubb’s 459 rush yards and 5 TDs. The only problem with that is the Chargers bringing the NFL’s top passing offense into this game as LAC is throwing for 307.3 ypg.

Chargers QB Justin Herbert remains on the injury report with his sore ribs (probable), but he looks fine after going 27/39 for 340 yards and 2 TDs last week vs. the Texans. Cleveland has been playing solid defense this season, ranking 9th in total yards allowed (326.0) including 12th vs. the pass (212.8).

The way Jacksonville was able to dominate LAC in a 28-point win in week three was by running for 151 yards which set up Trevor Lawrence going 28/39 for 262 yards with 3 TDs. That’s the formula Cleveland will use on Sunday behind Chubb and Kareem Hunt, which should set up another productive day from Jacoby Brissett who has 220+ yards passing in three straight.

Chargers Browns Week 5 Prediction

The Browns have some solid offshore odds across the board, with the best being +107 for the ML win at Pinnacle. L.A. has lost a lot of their ferociousness on defense with the Joey Bosa groin injury, and the way Cleveland can run the ball and play defense they really should be the favorite here.
