Chelsea return to Premier League action on Saturday when they welcome Burnley to Stamford Bridge. There is a massive need for both of these teams to claim maximum points in the English top-flight this weekend, but could Burnley cause an almighty shock?

Before Betting On Chelsea vs Burnley

The Premier League returns this weekend with an exciting round of matches. Chelsea will be among the teams in action, as the Blues chase a second straight win. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have turned a corner in recent weeks after going five without a defeat across all competitions, winning two of their last four in the Premier League.

However, despite that upturn in form, the Blues remain eleventh in the league standings, and only a win could see them end the round back in the top half. A shock defeat at home this weekend could see them end the weekend in 12th. Chelsea were fine winners in their last league match, landing a 3-2 home success against Newcastle. Cole Palmer was among the scorers in that success, and he has now netted in each of his last five starts at Stamford Bridge.

Burnley will be the visitors to Chelsea this weekend, and they have been handed a lifeline in their battle to stay in the top-flight following the points deduction handed out to Nottingham Forest. That means that the Clarets are now five points from safety with nine rounds of matches remaining on the schedule.

They also come into this weekend in improved form after going two without a defeat in the Premier League. Burnley landed a fourth victory of the season before the international break after holding off Brentford to secure a 2-1 success at Turf Moor. However, this is a much tougher assignment against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
